Uhm, well, the previous version of Gimp that I used was the 1.0.4 source code release, which compiles and prints just fine. But that's print v. 2.0.2 of course. Sorry that I can't give you any current regression info. Do you know if this problem only happens if you try to print something hard against the left margin?
