I don't know what exactly the PostScript mode of the plugin does, but would it help to generate a PS file from my test image and then feed that to GS? What I'm asking is would be using a plugin generated PS file better than just some PS file? Would be be able to find a pixel in the PS file and identify the same pixel in the bitmap output?
