Currently Rosetta 2 is required to use the Gutenprint drivers. When we do have a package that supports the M1 chip natively, there shouldn't be any difference in how it appears. It will use the same code base as is now used for the Intel based Macs. Presumably the M1 and Intel drivers will be compiled at the same time.
