If you're using Ubuntu-provided packages, you should start asking Ubuntu. You might also want to try building Gutenprint 5.3.3 from source to see if the printer works with that, and if it doesn't whether it does with 5.3.1. Instructions for building from source code are in the README file included with the package, which may be downloaded from https://gimp-print.sourceforge.net.
