I'm not sure of my terminology, but I have referred to it as installing a whole subsystem but without kernel or GUI. I have used both of them in the past for a particular purpose and then dumped them. Personally, I don't think I would use macport.org or finkproject.com on an ongoing basis. I would just buy cheap, throw away printers or use a linux install under virtual machine. < /soapbox> Matt |
