[Gimp-print-devel] 5.3.3 Installation Failure on 10.6.8

When I try to install Gutenprint 5.3.3 on a 2010 Mac mini running OSX 10.6.8, 
the package won't open. Instead, I get the following error message: 'The 
operation couldn't be completed (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error -1.)'

Any ideas/workarounds?
