as CUPS itself is no longer GPL.

The core QPDL stuff is pretty simple, so once we toss the stuff that 
gutenprint already provides (CUPS+PPD integration, etc) there wouldn't 
be that much left to integrate.  Indeed, based on the docs I've seen, it 
wouldn't even be that difficult to reimplement it.

On the other hand, when the main beneficiary is MacOS, my personal 
motivation to reinvent the wheel goes way down...
