Steve, it looks like something changed in the build process between v5.2.13 and 5.2.14-pre2. Beginning with 5.2.14-pre2 the gutenprint52+usb backend was not included in the distribution.  I discovered it as I was testing the Gutenprint drivers after transferring to a new MacBook Pro.
