PPDs do feel like a dead-end, and PPD interface extensions in Mac are not compatible with any other OS really. The API for them is also painful. Maybe it’s time to work on a general Win/Lin/Mac GUI (like an actual app) wrapped around core libgutenprint with IPP capability? This would be essentially taking the GIMP plugin and making it standalone and modern cross/compatible (and re-designed). I think a lot of interface devs (from many different places out there) could get behind something like this . . . . . and it would allow for a change in development paradigm too . . . Thoughts?
