Gutenprint 5.2.12 is a stable release of 5.2. Please report any problems to gim...@li.... Gutenprint is a suite of printer drivers for UNIX, Linux, and Macintosh OS X systems (10.6 and above) that use CUPS as their printing system. Gutenprint currently supports over 2600 printers. It also includes an enhanced Print plug-in for GIMP that replaces the print plug-in packaged with the GIMP distribution. Gutenprint is available for Linux, Macintosh OS X (10.6 and above as of Gutenprint 5.2.11), and other UNIX systems. Two options are available: * libS6145ImageProcess -- Officially supported by Sinfonia, this library is proprietary, available only on a few platforms, and use requires a written license from Sinfonia. * libS6145ImageReProcess -- A reverse-engineered replacement for the Sinfonia library, released under the terms of the GNU GPLv3+. Sinfonia does not support this in any way. Unfortunately, at this time it cannot be bundled with Gutenprint. The backend will attempt to dynamically load the library at runtime, and will log an appropriate message if it is or is not successful. Note that without the library, the printer will function but the output image quality will be quite poor. [*2] Printing requires use of an external image processing library. Only one option is available: * libMitsuD70ImageReProcess -- A reverse-engineered implementation of the Mitsubishi algorithms, relased under the terms of the GNU GPLv3+. Mitsubishi does not support this in any way. Unfortunately, at this time it cannot be bundled with Gutenprint. The backend will attempt to dynamically load the library at runtime, and will log an appropriate message if it is or is not successful. Note that without the library, the printer will not be able to successfully print. Work is underway on a crude fallback that will at least generate (very poor quality) output. [*3] The USB PID for the CP820 is unknown at this time, so will not be claimed by the improved backend. 4) Dye-sublimation backend now reports media status via standard CUPS marker attributes.
