Hello, a related question in particular for Robert Krawitz: Is it possible that Gutenprint provides its current CVS source also as tar.gz/bz2 archive? In particular when Gutenprint sources are not provided as tar archive one cannot easily build Gutenprint via the existing RPM package build systems because usually those are set up to have the sources in a tar archive. Of course in theory everything is possible with RPM build but each special kind needs special setup work by someone. Therefore I would like to ask if it is possible that Gutenprint provides its current CVS source also as a tar.gz/bz2 archive. Perhaps something like an automated daily snapshot tar archive? If the current Gutenprint source would be also available as tar archive it would be for example very easy with the openSUSE build service to "just build" RPMs of the current Gutenprint. Experienced users could do this even on their own in their own openSUSE build service home project. The advantage for Gutenprint would be that much more users could test the current Gutenprint. I could additionally provide current Gutenprint RPMs in the "Printing" development project of the openSUSE build service: https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/Printing Currently I provide only the latest Gutenprint release for various openSUSE versions: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/Printing/gutenprint If I provided additionally current Gutenprint RPMs, even unexperienced users could test it. What do you think? Kind Regards Johannes Meixner -- SUSE LINUX GmbH - GF: Felix Imendoerffer, Jane Smithard, Jennifer Guild, Dilip Upmanyu, Graham Norton - HRB 21284 (AG Nuernberg) |
