In general there are discrepancies between the native CUPS drivers the GhostScript "stp" driver. The Canon portables work perfectly now with GhostScript, but the native CUPS driver needs more or less the double density. For the HP DeskJet 840C with GIMP-Print 4.0.4 I always needed a Gamma of 1.5 for the CUPS driver and 2.5 for the GhostScript driver. Note that in the case of Canon the density must be corrected, because the full black is also too light with the CUPS driver and for the HP the Gamma must br corrected because the pure black is OK for both drivers there. Also for the Epson Stylus 440 which prints absolutely OK with the native CUPS driver, I need a Gamma of around 1.8 for GhostScript. I have only tried with the GhostScript "stp" version of GIMP-Print 4.0.4. Were there any changes in 4.1.x to address that? Till |
