Gutenprint printer drivers not installing properly on El Capitan (Mac 5.2.11-pre2 dmg install)

Hi, I recently installed 5.2.11-pre2 on my Mac running OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) to use with my Selphy CP510. Installation completes without errors, and when the printer is connected I do see the gutenprint52usb backend showing in the 'Add printer' dialog. However, there are no gutenprint drivers listed so I can't complete the installation. When I manually tried to generate the relevant PPD using cups-genppd.5.2 I'm running into El Capitan's SIP management blocking the creation of the /usr/share/cups/model/gutenprint/5.2 folder. At a loss now...

Same issue. Could not install 5.2.10a on an iMac running OSX 10.11 for an HP 4100 using a Belkin F5U002V1 parallel to USB cable. Gutenprint installs successfully. When installing usbtb, the printer is detected (unknown, unknown). While still in the printer setup in the usbtb installation, the print driver selection only shows a subset of drivers (and the HP 4100 is not in the list). Trying to select another HP driver throws an error in the usbtb setup. I've also tried manually adding the printer from sys prefs > printers (note the HP 4100 driver can be selected as a CUPS printer). After completing the manual setup, the printer shows up in the printer list, but any attempts to print fail (printer shows paused). I'm assuming the queue was not completed successfully. I also tried to reinstall usbtb and it states a queue exists already. Trying to reinstall ends up with the same results (added printer that won't print). Any ideas on troubleshooting?

Has anyone managed to get Gutenprint to work with a HP laserjet on MacOs 10.11.x??
How did you do it? I've installed 5.2.11 but have failed to get anything to print or get the printers recognised even though they all worked fine on 10.9 prior to upgrading to El Capitan.
