I'm trying GP on an Epson L1800. When I select Print Quality - Photo (1440x720), the print is ok (a little bit on the dark side but not bad at all). On Print Quality SuperPhoto and UltraPhoto (higher resolution) the prints are way lighter and look washed. I checked in model122 xml and as far as I can see there is parameter escp2_ink_type, which changes with the resolution. In my case the values are 33 and 37. What is the meaning of these values? Also in a print-escp2.c file I read pd->drop_size = escp2_ink_type(v); Please, put some light on it if it is not too complicated.

I did some tweaking of the parameters and the result is more acceptable colors and more consistent print across the resolution modes.
Normally, the next step should be to make a color profile but I see some small signs here and there that not everything is correct and it makes me to think that some issues may appear in the future. There are relations between the values, also the meaning is not quite clear to me so I only can guess.
My question is if there is any standard way to calibrate a printer for Gutenprint?
I'd like to use my own color profiles so I print in Uncorrected mode.
