Test conditions:
- Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty Tahr), Gutenprint v5.2.10-pre2
- Printer Canon S800
- Driver setting: Photo Draft other or Photo matt/glossy high
Result:
Colors wrong: red -> orange, gray -> green, blue -> yellow
Attachement:
- Driver setting left: 600x600 draft
- Driver setting right: Photo Draft other or Photo matt/glossy high
Color calibration is not something we can currently do, it requires testing and access to the printer. The resulting matrices can be incorporated into gutenprint. So far only one, perhaps two models have some color calibration, and that only for plain media (it will be different for different media and probably different resolution modes).
You might be able to use the Advanced tab in CUPS to change the density and other parameters of inks as a workaround.

Dear Gernot,
thank you very much for your attention!
Please take another look at the attached pictures: Even without callibration the colors of the left one (setting "600x600 draft") are fine. However the colors of the right one (setting "Photo Draft other" or "Photo matt/glossy high") are totally wrong (e.g. red -> orange)! Maybe you could use the settings of the first case as a default for the second case? This would be much better at least.
Thank you very much!
Klaus
Hello Klaus,
I'm sorry, there is no calibration done in either case. If it is required that there be color calibration per mode and possibly per media, I'm afraid that is currently beyond my capabilities.
However, in the current CVS (what will become 5.2.11) I have brought back S800 modes that were removed in 5.2.7, so you might try the legacy modes which admittedly as much less sophisticated, but might not involve color issues for you.
If you are capable of compiling gutenprint, please let me know if the legacy modes help you get better color results.
Best regards,
Gernot Hassenpflug
