Kind of off-topic, but I've started playing with this and I guess
Gimp could use it. :)

It's possible to render standard Aqua UI elements with the
HITheme API (successor to Appearance Manager). Using an off-
screen Quartz bitmap and GdkPixbuf as an intermediary, it's not
_too_ roundabout to draw into X11. No copyrighted Apple artwork
or crappy looks-kind-of-like-Aqua-but-is-really-just-going-to-annoy-
you knockoffs needed.
