It would be wonderful if we had a plugin interface for
music playing, this would improve modularity in giftui
since we could have plugins for alsa, oss, and audio
servers like jack, esd and all the others.
Also, preview with external programs based on file
extensions or mime type, either using an internal list
(which can be grafically configured) or using a mime
type database such as
http://www.freedesktop.org/Software/shared-mime-info
And, futurely (not important right now), internal video
preview based on gstreamer, xine-lib or mplayer, or an
option to choose from these (better).
So, basically:
First, check the mime type at an internal list or
external (user can choose)
Then, according to a human-readable info (for example,
"audio" for mp3 and ogg and "video" for video streams)
preview the file
Previewing the file:
Here, the user can choose either internal preview based
on gstreamer/mplayer/xine-lib or external preview with
xine, mplayer and some other specified command (as I
said before, internal preview isn't a priority right
now, at least this is what I think).
I know it's a very big goal, but it would lead giftui
to the best gift client for unix.

1) Gift already diferentiates between audio/video etc in
searches, and I think these two are the most useful to have
previewing on.
2) Right-clicking a download and being able to click
"preview" would be best, but a dumber system of "preview as"
and then picking "video" or "audio" off a submenu would work
almost as well.
