Dear Gerris Gurus, I use GfsRiver to calculate rapid mass movements such as snow avalanches. Since the time for the outflow of mass movements strongly depends on the topography and the rheology I would like to add a condition to the gfs file to stop the simulation when the momentum of the fluid is only 3% of the maximum momentum. I calculate the total momentum with SpatialSum. Is it possible to change the variable END in GfsTime { end = END dtmax = 1e-1} with such a condition during runtime, or is there another way to stop the simulation. This is probably a trivial question for Gerri's experts, but I can't find the answer. Any kind of help would be appreciated. Cheers Jörg |

Dear all, Note that the new official Gerris web site is here: http://gerris.dalembert.upmc.fr The old address will still work but will just redirect to the above. Note also that the web site is now "static" (it's not a wiki anymore). This may have broken some links, but hopefully not important ones. Please tell me if anything important is missing and I will try to recover it. cheers, Stephane |

Hi In addition to yesterday's answer, Stephane P. pointed out to me that 1. He is going to fix the issue 2. The gerris flow solver site can be found on the "wayback machine" : https://web.archive.org/web/20230000000000*/gfs.sourceforge.net https://web.archive.org/web/20230321001811/http://gfs.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page Hope it helps Stéphane |

Hi all! My simulation domain is a unit box minus a complex geometry. When I run the simulation, I got lots of warnings during the gerris run, like "Gfs-WARNING **: inconsistent surface fractions 3 0.849391 0.812500 0.036891" .Can anyone give me a clue what may cause the "inconsistent surface fractions" waring? Or can I ignore the warning?I would appreciate it if you could help me.Yunda FEI |

Dear Stéphane, Thank you for your kind attention, I do appreciate it. In fact I posted my question on the basilisk community first, but I did not receive any response so I tried gerris. In fact I correct my previous statement: you are registered to basilsk-fr, I just saw your question there, it ihas been posted to the group; you have a much better chance of getting an answer on basilisk-fr than on gfs-users . cheers |

Dear Sir/Madam, I was working on a tsunami case using Gerris and then I shifted to Basilisk, the study case is similar to the monai case in Gerris examples "Tsunami run-up onto a complex three-dimensional beach" but I did not manage to find a similar case in Basilisk examples. Could you guide me to a similar example written using Basilisk. Best regards, Morhaf |

Hi Stephane, Now, I am getting this message if I try to run a code: *gerris: file `vorticityone.gfs' is not a valid simulation file * *'orticityone.gfs:1:39: unknown keyword `* Could you comment on this? It'll be highly appreciated. Thank you. I am having trouble using `darcs get http://gerris.dalembert.upmc.fr/darcs/gfsview-stable/` It appeared to be an issue with my connection, but there is something else weird going on because after a few minutes the web view started working again, but then when trying darcs get, it failed again. does anyone else have issues with accessing the darcs repos? Hi Stephane, The opensuse.org repository has not been updated for years. However I believe Gerris and GfsView are now packaged "officially" in the "universe" repository of Ubuntu: https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=gerris&searchon=names&suite=groovy§ion=all https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?suite=groovy§ion=all&arch=any&keywords=gfsview&searchon=names So just using the package manager should work. cheers, Stephane |

Yes I'm trying to install it, but the browser search is not working through the VM to install the file .exe, and I've also problems sending the executable from my OS to the Virtual Machine ( I can't create a shared folder), so I was trying to install HYpre directly from the shell, but also that seems to be not possible. I'm sorry but I'm really trying a lot to make it work.
