Hello! I am trying to install an older version of GFE but I am having a lot of issues when it comes to it. Files not be there, scripts not running etc. Could you please give a more detailed instructions on how to install GFE from older versions? Like 1.13.0?
It is very possible that older versions may not be compatable with newer versions of linux distributions. In particular, Fedora linux updates their packages at a fairly agressive pace. So, it usually contains the latest versions of gcc, python, etc.
I update the gfe code to work with new versions of these packages. But, it is generally not worth the effort and headache to make the gfe code work with both the new packages and the old ones at the same time.
Is the new version of gfe compatible with fedora 34?
I don't recall anything major (gcc, python, swig) changing in any significant way between fedora 34 and 35. So, the gfe may very well compie and run fine on it. If not, fedora does have a pretty painless way to upgrade the whole distribution on the command line. It is like three commands (and a bit of time).
@romberg Alright, thank you! I am not good at installing these so I will try my best.
