I'm getting connection reset messages sometimes while parsing larger pastes (larger as in more then ~200 lines (on Plain text syntax it works okay)), sometimes it will even die with 32 lines in total. :/
Now I looked a bit and saw this is related with PHP PCRE regex stuff, so I was wondering if there are any plans/ideas on how to fix this.

Thanks,
~Lauda

The problem you mention is known for quite long and there's not that much I can do about it in GeSHi itself without sacrificing most of its speed.

If you are trying to highlight PHP snippets when this happens you might want to disable SCRIPT blocks 5 and 6 in geshi/php.php. This should reduce most of the issues already.

Also be sure to complain upstream with the PCRE guys as that's a problem with their library. In the short run there's only the workaround of increasing the backtracking limits in php.ini to much larger values. And even though GeSHi already tries this automatically it's not guaranteed to work. Complain ustream about this crash, since the PCRE GeSHi generates is valid (and also quite deterministic).

    Best regards,
    BenBE.
