Initial Comment:
Hi,
   I've downloaded everything fine.  I have created 
two shapefiles using ArcView which I can get to 
display.  The trouble is that I can't get the name 
created in the .dbf to be shown on the label.  I've 
tried following your tutorials but I still can seem to 
get the name coloumn which I have added to the 
shapefiles.dbf to show.  I can get it to highlight 
only. Please help!!

Do I need to enter .dbf anywhere?

I'am using geotools version 0.7.8.1 and using the tutorial 
HIGHLIGHTER.

Should I pass in the actual dbf file in the HTML/Applet 
code, OR will it just know from the code 

label=new GeoLabel(loader.readData("NAME"));

&
highlightManager.addHighlightChangedListner(label);

Could you tell me which version of GeoTools you are working 
with?

Also which tutorial/example exactly were you working from?

In general though, the most important thing to get right is 
to make sure that you specify the name of the column 
exactly right in the code.

Try using your data with example2 from the GeoTools demos 
package (part of the 0.8rc-all archive or the 0.8rc-demos 
package from https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?
group_id=4091 )

With that demo try and change the tooltip param in the html 
to be name of your column and see if it works.
