Hi,

You can use the isValid filter function:
http://docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/user/filter/function_reference.html

This function can be as a CQL filter like this, where geometry should be 
the layer property that contains the geometry you want validate:
CQL_FILTER=isValid(geometry)=true

Using the demo layer tiger:poly_landmarks shaped with GeoServer the 
request will look like this:
http://localhost:8092/geoserver/tiger/wms?SERVICE=WMS&VERSION=1.1.1&REQUEST=GetMap&FORMAT=image/png&TRANSPARENT=true&STYLES&LAYERS=tiger:poly_landmarks&CQL_FILTER=isValid(the_geom)=true&SRS=EPSG:4326&WIDTH=528&HEIGHT=768&BBOX=-73.96785736083984,40.76708793640137,-73.92253875732422,40.83300590515137
