We've demonstrated interactive querying (panning and zooming) through Geoserver of a data set with 250M points on a 12 node cluster. Additionally, we've shown good scaling properties when adding more nodes to the cluster. This is all described in a paper which will be published next month as part of the IEEE BigData 2013 conference.
