Hi Jody, yes, I did some investigation back then. And I am doing again these days. But the feeling is that the bottleneck is in the AWT parts. The porting of the rendering system is very much bound to AWT functions, transforms and whatever. I am not sure how well that can be substituted. This would most probably impact hard on the necessary budget. Anyone ideas about it? Do you know if it would be ok to extract some of the code of it from the openjdk, if it was to be released under GPL?
