OSGeo Board of Directors. They own (c) of GeoTools and we run it for them; as per code contribution agreement. I am apparently an officer of GeoTools for OSGeo (unless someone else volunteers) and the point of contact when the Board (or other committees want to talk to the project). So I will try and relay our discussion here back to the board; currently I have told them that I do not want to act until the issue is discussed by the PMC and until they give us guidelines in how much action we can take. Personally am not really keen to acknowledge trademark. But I will be steered by the GeoTools PMC in this. 1. The project was from the UK, where the TM was not registered 2. Ben makes the case for neglect (they only noticed a project that started 1996 because they are trying to "re-release"? please....) 3. In incubation we discussed the possibility of renaming the project geotools.org if needed. Given the wording of her email I would think she would go for this. She took care to refer to the project as "GeoTools - the Java GIS Toolkit" etc...) 4. I would like to reflect java conventions of making the a project match its domain name; any change from geotools.org would break all client code -- Jody Garnett On Friday, 1 April 2011 at 9:20 AM, Michael Bedward wrote: > I will let the board ponder a bit longer before taking any steps. > > The board ? > > Michael > |
