Sounds fine to me. Dont we already have metadata classes though? I have never really looked into them. I am fine with most any metadata ideas, I only get prickly when you start coming in to datastore land. Also, check out the geonetwork open source codebase. I have not looked at their metadata code, but they do z39.50 and metadata editing, and I have been talking to them about combining both of our 2.0s into a pluggable framework, using their metadata editing, catalog and wms client (intermap) stuff. Would be nice to integrate their core models at the geotools level.
