I've never tried to instantiate the a class as object in it's own
constructor, but I can imagine that you'll get an infinite loop and as such
your program won't work anyway. And even if it works it's not most likely
not going to be very helpfull...
On topic: your shp file most likely (or always?) contains features, so no
need to create new ones if you just want to display the content. See the
quickstart tutorials where you can choose a shp file and it's content is
automatically being shown:

other one if you use something else than Eclipse).
Otherwise get the value of the property containing the geometry of your
feature and add that to your featurebuilder after you've made a featuretype
with a featuretypebuilder. See the tutorials for that as well since it's
all there ;-).
