Here is the schedule for server milestone releases before the 1.0 non-beta server is available:
Milestone One: Basic features such as requesting features and adding features will be supported along with error codes. The web-based administration console will still be incomplete, but it will allow users to add allowed types to the server and browse some of the features located within the server. This should be released later tonight as soon as I get the web-based stuff up to par.
Milestone Two - This milestone will implement the host and network-based access controls that are currently under development in the main tree. Also, server logging will be moved from the stdout that has been used for debugging and will be be based in files. Finally, a boundedRequest feature will be integrated in the server so that clients may select features that are within a specific polygon bound. Web-based functions related to each of these features will also be completed. This milestone is scheduled for release on November 11.
Milestone Three - This milestone will focus on the user / group aspects of the server. This includes access control lists for features, user logons, and other related things. This milestone will be released on Nov. 18.
Milestone Four - This milestone will focus on addressing some of the problems and clean-ups from the previous milestones. This milestone is intended to be primarily a testing milestone so that the 1.0 version of the server is solid as can be. After this milestone release, a public 1.0 release will be made and documentation and a small sample client will be made available to the public (through means other than CVS). This milestone is slated for release on Nov. 25.
I realize that this is an ambitious schedule, though every effort will be made to meet the deadlines above.
