No problem, I could make my source available if you like. At the moment I have no access to the source, you should ping me next week again. In my opinion, it does not make sense to create a java application using REST doing the same as the geoserver GUI. Batch configurations are individual and depend on your situation. But I think it would make sense to have something like this for php http://docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/user/extensions/rest/rest-config-examples-php.html A similar documentation for java would help. Looking at my personal time schedule, I could start after 13th of September. If you are interested, we could merge our Java experience and I will create the documentation (which is written in sphinx). Our you can do that and I will assist you.
