Dear PSC Members, I would like to propose Craig Jones as a committer to trunk. Craig has been involved in the development of web applications and services using Java and XML related technologies such as J2EE and XSLT for over 6 years. Overall, he has had over 20 years experience with a wide variety of technologies, working on large and small projects in a variety of roles from programmer to architect. Craig has accepted the committer guidelines and has been developing GeoNetwork through the BlueNetMEST branch and sandbox since 2009 in his role as a lead developer in the Australian Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) project. Starting off with bug fixes and minor enhancements, he has been involved in: - development of the user self-registration system - refactoring metadata fragment support and adding this capability to the THREDDS harvester - extending the THREDDS harvester to support Unidata Data Discovery Protocols - streaming XML for handling large responses in the WFS Feature Harvester - a logo manager (not yet integrated with the trunk version) - lucene speed ups and fixes including analyzers and indexing - bug fixes to numerous systems including the MEF Importer, OAI-PMH harvester (resumption token), XSLT presentation layer - documenting upgrades and changes You would not have seen many direct commits by Craig to the sandbox (jo...@us...) but if you search my commits you will see where I have acknowledged Craig's work. Craig has a very good understanding of the different technologies (Java, XSLT, JavaScript, Lucene) required to develop GeoNetwork and I've found him to be collaborative, methodical and thorough with excellent analytical skills. Given the prime role that GeoNetwork has in IMOS and the growing use of GeoNetwork (especially in Australia), I think the community will benefit from contributions developed by Craig and in collaboration with others - something which he has already demonstrated in my association with him. Finally, Craig has been active in helping other users and developers (both on the GeoNetwork developers and users lists and off the lists in private communications) - something which I think is very important for the GeoNetwork community - and I would expect this involvement to continue and grow. Cheers and thanks, Simon |
