Hello geomondrian users, i also got another email on this discussion. So that everyone can benefit from the answer, I post the mail (including the answer) to the forum. Question: ################## ... I've been working with mondrian for 5 year. Could you help me to get the geomondrian.war file, please. I was trying to connect to the subversion server but I couldn't. ... Answer: ################## You have to check out the source code from the svn-repository: https://geomondrian.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/geomondrian/trunk If you are a windows user, the Tortoise SVN GUI (http://tortoisesvn.net/) might be a good choice to download the codes. Otherwise, you can also check out the code with eclipse. You can also browse the code through: http://spatialytics.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/geomondrian/ If you got the source code, please follow the instructions in http://mondrian.pentaho.com/documentation/developers_guide.php : - Appendix A. Product installation instructions - Building the code (ant) - Installing the database - Optional: Running the test suite (ant test) - Create, deploy and start the web application (ant war) Best regards Michael |

Hi everybody, another very comfortable and quick way to test the features of GeoMondrian is to use the Mondrian-JPivot-examples provided in the GeoMondrian war-file. After creating the "geomondrian.war"-file following http://mondrian.pentaho.com/documentation/developers_guide.php and moving it into the TOMCAT_HOME/webapps, there are only a few adjustments to do for using it. The necessary customizations are described in section "3. Deploy and run the web application with a non-embedded database" of http://mondrian.pentaho.com/documentation/installation.php. In a nutshell: - Copy "GeoFoodMart.xml" in .\WEB-INF\queries - Adapt the connection string in "mondrian.properties" and the several *.jsp-files in .\WEB-INF\queries with the parameters of your spatial-data-warehouse and your cube-xml-file (GeoFoodMart.xml) - Hit http://localhost:8080/GeoMondrian and enter your spatial-MDX-query Best regards Michael |

Hello GeoMondrian users, If your knowledge in Java is limited as mine, you probably already tried Simone Capora's unofficial build of GeoMondrian with a sample (and simple) application included. You can download it on his Blog: http://www.simonecampora.com/blog/2009/11/18/geomondrian-example/ I had minor issues while trying to run the sample application. This is the error stack: 09:01:14,991 INFO [MondrianProperties] Mondrian: properties loaded from 'jar:fi le:/C:/geomondrian-example/geomondrian.jar!/mondrian.properties' 09:01:14,992 INFO [MondrianProperties] Mondrian: *loaded 0 system properties* 09:01:15,042 INFO [RolapUtil] Mondrian: JDBC driver org.postgis.DriverWrapper l oaded successfully Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError at mondrian.rolap.RolapSchema.<init>(RolapSchema.java:200) at mondrian.rolap.RolapSchema.<init>(RolapSchema.java:236) at mondrian.rolap.RolapSchema.<init>(RolapSchema.java:230) at mondrian.rolap.RolapSchema$Pool.get(RolapSchema.java:970) at mondrian.rolap.RolapSchema$Pool.get(RolapSchema.java:767) at mondrian.rolap.RolapConnection.<init>(RolapConnection.java:163) at mondrian.rolap.RolapConnection.<init>(RolapConnection.java:92) at mondrian.olap.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:110) at mondrian.olap.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:74) at mondrian.olap.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:55) at GeoMondrianTest.main(GeoMondrianTest.java:32) Caused by: java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find bundle for base name m ondrian.resource.MondrianResource, locale pt_BR at java.util.ResourceBundle.throwMissingResourceException(Unknown Source ) at java.util.ResourceBundle.getBundleImpl(Unknown Source) at java.util.ResourceBundle.getBundle(Unknown Source) at mondrian.resource.MondrianResource.instance(MondrianResource.java:29) at mondrian.rolap.aggmatcher.AggTableManager.<clinit>(AggTableManager.ja va:50) ... 11 more Caused by: java.io.IOException:* could not open properties file for class mondria n.resource.MondrianResource* at org.eigenbase.resgen.ShadowResourceBundle.<init>(Unknown Source) at mondrian.resource.MondrianResource.<init>(MondrianResource.java:20) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(Unknown Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(Unknown Sou rce) at java.lang.reflect.Constructor.newInstance(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Class.newInstance0(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Class.newInstance(Unknown Source) at java.util.ResourceBundle$Control.newBundle(Unknown Source) at java.util.ResourceBundle.loadBundle(Unknown Source) at java.util.ResourceBundle.findBundle(Unknown Source) at java.util.ResourceBundle.findBundle(Unknown Source) at java.util.ResourceBundle.findBundle(Unknown Source) ... 15 more I'm not sure yet why mondrian couldn't load my properties files (linux build of geomondrian?). Classpath and other possibilities were checked, but without success. I managed to solve this by downloading geomondrian's source code from the SVN repository. Then I followed the original guide to build mondrian, available in: http://mondrian.pentaho.com/documentation/developers_guide.php Then I created a new project on Eclipse with the GeoMondrianTest.java (which is available at the root of Simone Campora's .zip file). But I discarded all libraries present on Simone Campora's build, and included the libraries present on my own build folder. Then, it worked =) -- Vinícius Ramos Toledo Ferraz MSc candidate in Computer Science @ Federal University of São Carlos Database Group - http://gbd.dc.ufscar.br |

Hi List! I'm trying to install Geomondrian and SOLAPLayers. Do you have any tutorial or "How To's"? Another problem is about GeoKettle. I installed Java JDK and JRE on my Win7(64bit)-machine but there pops up a failure that "javaw" could not found. Do you have any solution for that. Thanks in advance! Martin |

I hope you will appreciate its unique features. Dealing wih the build bug you faced, here is a solution: 1) First, comment the export lines in the buildJdk16.sh script. It then should look like: # $Id: //open/mondrian/buildJdk16.sh#3 $ # Called recursively from 'ant release' to build the files which can only be # built under JDK 1.6. # Change the following line to point to your JDK 1.6 home. #export JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/jdk1.6 #export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH ant -Dskip.download compile.java # End buildJdk16.sh 2) In a terminal, add . to your PATH (export PATH=$PATH:.) 3) Provide execute rights to the sh scripts: chmod +x *.sh in the geomondrian directory 4) Launch ant war and the war archive should be built now ;-) Please, let me know if it works on your side. Hi Th, I need to get few clarification on "Extending the Mondrian schema workbench to support spatial data types" idea. Will you be able to provide me more detail on this ? I wonder you mean from this idea is to build geo version of workbench using Pentaho mondria workbench. If so did the current workbench in the geomondria code base run without any issues? As i said below i have download the Pentaho mondria source build the workbench that is work fine in my machine. And after that i ran workbench found inside the Geomondria with setting up Pentaho mondrian class folder to that workbench and i have been able to get the workbench running this time. So if you can will you be able give me few advise on this? Hi everybody! I have installed geomondrian (following http://mondrian.pentaho.org/documentation/developers_guide.php this guide) and spatialytics and now i'm trying to run some query on the spatialytics test page. I can execute the default query : SELECT {[Measures].[Unit Sales]} ON COLUMNS, {[Store].[Store Country].members} ON ROWS FROM [Sales] WHERE [Time].[1997] And i can drill down and roll up over the map. The problem come when i try to use one of the ST_ function for example: SELECT {[Measures].[Unit Sales]} ON columns, Filter({[Store].[Store City].members}, ST_Distance([Store].CurrentMember.Properties("geom"), ST_GeomFromText('POINT (-118.383811 34.069609)')) < 1.0) ON rows FROM SALES This one gives me a 500 error, and if i look at catalina.out I see: Caused by: mondrian.olap.MondrianException: Mondrian Error:No function matches signature 'ST_GeomFromText(<String>)' Am i missing something?? Any hint will be greatly appreciated! Tnx for reading! |

Hello, I am new with geomondrian and with gis too, but i have some experience with pentaho. I have succesfully installed geomondrian and deploy it on my webserver. Now it's the time of schema workbench: I can't execute it: i'm working on macos but i tried it on debian too and i got the same error: ./workbench.sh Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: mondrian/ olap/Util$PropertyList i've tried building the war with ant workbench but nothing has changed: java -jar lib/workbench.jar Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: mondrian/ olap/Util$PropertyList However i can execute schema-workbench (the one from pentaho guys) and use it. So how to resolve with this schema workbench? Anyone can help me? tnx for reading! Nick |

It is great too see that some users are now confortable enough that they can help others to install and play with GeoMondrian. It is a clear sign that an active community is gathering around GeoMondrian and I am very happy with this. Arnaud, if you need more help or meet some problems during the installation, do not hesitate to post your questions to the list as you did it today. Please provide as details as possible about the problem you face, it is then easier for us to understand what has occured and to provide you with a solution. In addition, questions and answers exchanged on the list can help other users in the future. I know we have to produce an effort to better document the installation procedure and to provide the community with a basic user guide on GeoMondrian but as usual time is lacking and we are focusing more on developing new features than on working on documentation. If some of you are insterested in contributing some documentation snippets (not all of us are java ninjas but can however contribute to a project such as GeoMondrian ;-) ), I will be very happy to welcome your contribution. We plan to set up a wiki on the spatialytics.org domain. It could be a great place for some of you to share some info about installation and usage of GeoMondrian (and/or other elements of the suite). Waiting for such a documentation, please note that a workshop has been given on GeoMondrian and SOLAPLayers during the last edition of the FOSS4G conference in Sydney, Australia. Supports and files are available online at: http://2009.foss4g.org/workshops/#workshop_01. This material is available to all under the terms of the Creative Commmons Attribution-Share Alike license. It provides a good intro to GeoMondrian and SOLAPLayers. Hoping it helps.
