This is more of an enhancement request than bug report. Currently Gentoo differentiates the active pane by setting the column header elements as active or disabled. However, this behaviour can look quite ugly in some themes.
Perhaps there could be an alternate focus alternative? Another filemanager (emelfm2) offers three methods to mark panes apart:
- Manual Recolouring of active pane (col. headers use user specified colour rather than theme default).
- Bolding the col. header text of the active column.
- Setting the whole "unfocused pane" as "inactive".
Gentoo's current method is closer to choice #3, but for some reason the layout looks less than aesthetically pleasing compared to emelfm. I personally would be just fine with changing the col. header text to bold.
