I am trying to run IGB on a Mac machine with OSX 10.9.2 and java version "1.7.0_51". I always receive a warning message "running applications by unknown publishers will be blocked in a future release because it is potentially unsafe and a security risk". I then accept the risk to run the application and I can see IGB icon in the bar for few seconds but nothing happens after that.
I am unable to run IGB at all right now on our Mac machine. Any suggestions! Thanks!!

    Hi Osama,
Could you please follow these instructions (http://www.java.com/en/download/help/javaconsole.xml) for enabling console output for java and try to run IGB again and copy and paste the output of the console to this thread.

Also, could you tell me which version of IGB you are running? Are you launching the jnlp file from bioviz.org or running the script contained in the zip download from here at sourceforge?

    Hi David,
Here is the output of the console
    3/24/14 1:53:28.689 PM Java Updater[1303]: Host name is javadl-esd-secure.oracle.com
3/24/14 1:53:28.689 PM Java Updater[1303]: Feed URL: https
3/24/14 1:53:28.689 PM Java Updater[1303]: Hostname check passed. Valid Oracle hostname

I am using igb-5GB.jnlp that I downloaded from bioviz.org. Right now when I double click on igb.jnlp, I do not get the previous java warning message but I am still unable to launch IGB. Thanks!

    Hi Osama,
The console output you have shared is different than what I would expect to see. Can you confirm you are copying this output from a console window which looks like this https://www.dropbox.com/s/zxmn0u3uvb3r32h/Screenshot%202014-03-24%2016.29.14.png ?

For your reference, this is console output I am getting on my mac osx 10.9.2 laptop which I am launching the latest version of igb.jnlp from bioviz.org (IGB version 8.0.4).

I possibly should have added that once you have enabled the "show console" option in your java preferences a console window will popup whenever you launch IGB. It is this popup which appears when launching the igb jnlp file which will help me diagnose what might be failing on your machine.

If these instructions are confusing I apologize. I can setup a screen share session to assist you if you continue to have trouble launching IGB.

Thanks David for your help! The problem is that when I launch igb, a screen pops up very quickly and disappears so I do not have a chance to open the console. If you are running the last version of igb on your machine with osx 10.9, there might be a problem in my machine. It will be great if you can setup a screen share with me when you have time. Thanks!

I actually found out why I cannot run igb. I do not have appropriate access privileges to run igb from my account. When I logged in as an admin, I was able to run igb. Our IT people did a very good job blocking me but I will talk with them to fix it. Thanks David so much!

No problem, please let me know if things don't turn out to be security related.
