Hi there,
this is a problem since at least IGB 6.7, earlier versions did not have that: startup times have become very problematic, between 2:40m and 3:10m. Would it be possible to incorporate a prefernce somewhere which completely disables all trials to reach the internet on startup?
Usage: I'm using IGB for viewing local files only (mostly wig and a couple of other formats).
Setup: I'm behind a proxy and JAVA has been configured on purpose to not be allowed to get through the proxy.
Tried remedy: removing all plugin repositories from "File -> Preferences -> Plugin Repositories" as well as disabling all data sources in "File -> Preferences -> Data Sources". To no avail.
Symptoms: here's a typical log when starting up (sorry, no copy paste as the DOS BOX does not do that)
'#################################
12:06:20 Starting IGB
...
"12:06:47 INFO: Initializing statusbar output ..."
...
"12:06:56 com.affymetrix.igb.prefs-WebLinkUtils autoLoad
INFO: Loading web links from file ...
...
12:07:00 ...
INFO: Loading user stylesheet from resource ..."
Then pauses for about a minute, at about 12:08:01 a message appears
"--------------------
ERROR: You do not appear to be connected to the Internet ...
--------------------"
Then:
"12:08:26 INFO: Found available port for bookmark server: 7'085"
...
"12:08:26 Loading bookmarks from file ..."
"12:08:48 com.affymetrix.igb.tutorial.Activator getServices
WARNING: Could not connect: Connection timed out: connect.
continuing..."
12:09:13 (((Some other messages)))
12:09:18 (((Last message on DOS BOX)))
12:09:22 Userinterface appears.

Having to wait for some 3 minutes every time I want to quickly check something locally is rather painful, relief would be greatly appreciated.
Best,
B.
