The Genetic Daemon may be a forerunner of Internet iMinds
that move about the 'Net, flitting from one host to another,
multiplying into a thousand points of Mind in time of need
or contracting into a single mighty Overmind in quiescence: http://mind.sourceforge.net/theory5.html -- "Know Thyself!"
Right. Genetic Daemons AIMS to be that forerunner of iMinds.
But My view of mind is far less functional than yours, I think. The only thing that distinguish the uman brain from a bounc of useles hardware connection is it's ability to think about it's thoughs, and the WILL to do so. This self referentiality, and this will, are enough to form a self conscious being; but this self consciousness cannot be without a body: we learn to be self conscious by our very body that feeds back us with enviromnent reactions.
Any way, I had a look to your work, and I find it very interesting; I am willing to get a deeper look as soon as I can.

One implementation of the AI Mind theory is diagrammed at
http://mind.sourceforge.net/mindloop.html -- AI flowchart.
The current AI implementation is in MSIE JavaScript at
http://mind.sourceforge.net/index.html -- an online AI.
A previous instance of porting the AI to Visual Basic was
http://www.virtualentity.com/mind/vb/ -- Mind.VB (3.Apr.2000).
A more recent port from JavaScript into Mind.JAVA is at
http://www.angelfire.com/nf/vision/ai/mjava.html -- (June 2001).
Genetic Daemon is listed in the Mind-to-C++ liaison page at
http://mind.sourceforge.net/cpp.html#geneticd - C++ for AI.
