There is still a few ideas I have that has not made it onto the site yet, but I will try and get it on paper soon. > My structure for an SRS is derived from IEEE Guide to > Software > Requirements Specifications (Std 830-1993). It seems you need to pay big $$$ to get a copy of it! While a think it is very important to use standards where possible, in an open source project I think it is more important to only use free and open standards. At work we are using Mil-Std-498. It is available for free at: http://www.pogner.demon.co.uk/mil_498/ Of particular use to us is the SRS DID (search for it on the left hand frame) which provides a template for writing a SRS. Mil-Std 498 has been replace by ISO 12207, however 12207 costs money to obtain and hence I don't think we should use it. I'm open to other suggestions. Secondly, I suggest we use Simple Docbook XML instead of Docbook XML. It has a lower learning curve for potential editors. Would it be possible for you to use Simple Docbook instead? -- Cameron Shorter http://cameron.shorter.net Open Source Developer http://generguide.sourceforge.net http://mapbuilder.sourceforge.net http://geotools.org Senior Software Engineer http://www.adi-limited.com |
