I've created an example with irc*.sgml, in particular irclog.sgml which shows 
the generic guide not storing logs, and geotools storing logs at 
http://geotools.org

Try running:
generguide/bin/build.sh
Then look at target/developersguide.html#irclogs

Then,
cvs update geotools2
Notice new files geotools2/geotools-src/developersguide/irc*.sgml
generguide/bin/build.sh -l work/geotools2/geotools-src/developersguide/
Notice a difference in target/developersguide.html#irclogs
