NTR: sclerotium development
NTR: +/-/regulation of sclerotium development

Hello Editors,

Sclerotia are important survival structures in the life cycle of many fungi (PMID:21148914). They develop in an asexual developmental process akin to cleistothecium development (GO:0070791) in the Aspergilli. The ability to form sclerotia are fairly common in filamentous fungi and we have some Aspergillus genes that could use this annotation.

sclerotium development
Possible definition: the formation of asexual starvation structures such as those formed by Aspergillus and other fungal species

Thank you,

Diane

Can we use the def from FAO as the embedded def:

    [Term]
    id: FAO:0001008
    name: sclerotium
    namespace: fungal_anatomy_ontology
def: "A mycelial resting body, resistant to adverse environmental conditions." [FAO:mcc, ISBN:0471522295]
    is_a: FAO:0000011 ! mycelium

    based on this, should be
    is_a: GO:0043581 ! mycelium development

Sorry Diane, I forgot. You may request the regulation terms yourself via TermGenie. Thanks!

    Hi Paola,

TG gave me an error. It wants a ref and I'm not sure what format or what ref it wants..

    'Literature_Ref' has the following error:
    Required value missing

    Hi Diane,

The 'Literature _Ref' that TG is complaining about is exactly that - a PubMed ID, or an ISBN number. You may use the same reference you suggested above, and the correct format is
    PMID:21148914
    (no spaces).
Feel free to re-open if the issue persists and we'll look into it! Thanks and have a good weekend.

    Paola
