I could use another new term:

name: plasmid maintenance assay
def: "As assay in which a mitotically stable plasmid (or minichromosome) is introduced into cells, the cells are growth without selection for several generations, and the proportion of cells that retain the plasmid is then determined (by comparing colony numbers on selective versus non-selective media) and the loss per generation calculated." [PMID:6323245]
synonym: "minichromosome maintenance assay" EXACT [PMID:6323245]

I'm confident that it belongs somewhere under ECO:0000006 'experimental evidence', but beyond that I'm not sure where it might fit more specifically.

thanks,
Midori

note: presence/absence of a plasmid can also be assessed qualitatively using markers that alter colony color, so edit the definition to take that into account:

def: "As assay in which a mitotically stable plasmid (or minichromosome) is introduced into cells, the cells are growth without selection for several generations, and the proportion of cells that retain the plasmid is then determined (e.g. by comparing colony numbers on selective versus non-selective media). The loss per generation can subsequently be calculated." [PMID:6323245]
