This was reported by the US DOE. I cannot duplicate
their findings on my machine, but I'm reporting it here in
case other users encounter this issue.
"When we installed GEMCat 4.0 at ED, it created a new
item in IE 6 under Tools>Internet Options>Advanced
[Java (Sun)]. This automatically became checked, and
other programs we have that use Java could not use this
version. So we had to go into this and uncheck the
box. I don't know if other people would have any
problem with this, or if we are just using an old version
of a program, so I'm not sure how much of an issue this
is. It would be nice to know, though, in case other
people experience the same problem."
... installing GEMCat "adds an item to the configuration
and then selects that version as the version that IE
uses"
