GeekTool 2.1(D7) uses some Core Image calls undocumented and
deprecated under Tiger (OS X 10.4).
If you browse your system log you will find lot of entries stating that
GeekTools uses obsolete funtions:
"GeekTool: The function ..... is obsolete and will be removed in a
Tiger update. Unfortunately, this app, or a library it uses, is using
this obsolete function, and is thereby contributing to an overall
degradation of system performance."
Tired waiting for a new release of GeekTool fixing the Tiger
incompatibilities, I made the fixes myself.
The obsolete functions are now replaced with the official (and
current) ones, and console log is now clean.
Here is the patch file.
I also packaged an already patched GeekTool (2.1jaw1(d8)) which
includes also the (slightly modified) speedup patch (1158845)
submitted by Wout Mertens and the Italian localization. It is an
unofficial release (hence the odd version number), and you can
download it from my site:
In section OS X -> miscellanea.
