Hi all. I'm very new to geekos. I was just wondering if anyone has attempted to use the network in any assignments for geekos? Thanks, -joel |

I've been trying to use VGA mode in GeeokOS, using the int 0x10 BIOS service, but i've seen that GeekOS change the orignal IDT with a new one, the when i try to use int 0x10, the default interrupt handler catch the interruption alerting about a invalid interrupt. I did a little search in FreeDOS and it looks to me that they save the first 17 entries of the original IDT, i think with this would be possible to use VGA mode in GeekOS, some guidance with how to do this in GeekOS will be appreciated. ______________________________________________ Renovamos el Correo Yahoo! But I will try to resolve the problem during this day. I have also patched the makefile to build GeekOs, if theres any need i will also attached the diff to next mail. marm.mm Germany |

Hi David, I was doing Project 0, the echoing of pressed keys. I used a = Wait_For_Key() and Put_Char() combination to echo pressed keys, but I = found that the keys are echoed twice. Is it due to a Bochs problem or a = GeekOS problem? I investigated a little bit and found that for each key = pressed, two keycodes are enqueued. Please shed some light on this = problem!=20 Thanks, Ahmad |

Hi, I am trying to make project 0, where I get an 'undefined reference to __bss_start': geekos/mem.o(.text+0x3bf): In function `Init_BSS': ./src/geekos/mem.c:173: undefined reference to `__bss_start' geekos/mem.o(.text+0x3c7):../src/geekos/mem.c:173: undefined reference to `__bss_start' make.exe: *** [geekos/kernel.exe] Error 1 My environment is: windows (im trying to make geekos work on win, and i removed all errors except this one), and the djgpp compiler (it is gcc for dos). The error is caused by the reference in mem.c: void Init_BSS(void) { extern char BSS_END, BSS_START; /* Fill .bss with zeroes */ memset(&BSS_START, '\0', &BSS_END - &BSS_START); } I did a little search, and the variable BSS_START is not defined in any src file. I would like to know if the variable should be provided by the compiler. It seems to be a mystery! Please shed some light on the situation. Apologies if this question has been asked before. Thanks, Ahmad |
