1.3.6 has a lot of bug fixes and only a few new features- the things that are new are just UI types of things that shouldn't have a big impact on the stability of 1.3.5.3 which was never released, but i've been running for almost a year now.
The changelog.txt in the installer should have what you need as far as release notes.

I just noticed some notes under the download links… Did you just add them? 'coz I don't remember 'em from when I looked earlier this morning… anyway…
So, I DL'ed the zip, and copied right over my old version, and it comes up gr8! So far, everything seems to be running fine. I'll have to get used to that new icon, tho :)
One feature I've been hoping for, release to release, is a "delete icon", as opposed to just "hide", or complete uninstall. Sometimes, I add in an icon, either by accident (or an app makes a duplicate) or I don't want to see it anymore, and although I don't want to uninstall the app, I want its icon to disappear forever (and not come back every time I do an unhide).
Also, I would like to see the "Properties" of an icon. In particular, what is the path, executable, and sometimes parameters of an icon, such as you get when you right-click on a shortcut in Windows Explorer. I know that if you hover over a true Portable App, it shows the path to the directory, and if you right-click on an "outside app" (I have added shortcuts to apps in other drives) you can go to its directory, but I'd like to see the full properties.
Doable?
Thanks!

The "delete icon" as you describe it will probably not happen unless a bunch of other people jump in with a metoo. In the meantime you could probably create a subcategory of a category for those sorts of icons.
A property editor will be completed before 1.4 is complete.

oboy, i've screwed something up… Not sure what you meant by subcategory of a category, I thought I'd experiment…
I right-clicked on an existing cat called Misc, selected Category>New Category, and entered "Hidden". Then, Misc disappeared! I looked everywhere, and it was nowhere to be found. Hmmm… Knowing that some things need a restart, I did just that, and there was Misc, as a subcategory of Hidden! The exact opposite of what I wanted! (that is, Hidden as a subcategory of Misc)
Now, I'm hesitant to try anything else, for fear of screwing things up further…

So this would be an example of "working as desinged, but probably not designed correctly" - you can assign a category to an existing category, which is what the "Category" menu item is trying to do. For categories, this should probably read "assign to category" and there should also be a "Add new subcategory" as well. I've created bugs 3228902 and 3228882 based on my testing, and I'll get it fixed shortly.
In the meantime, you can take misc and choose "Clear Category", then alt-click hidden and choose "Category" and pick misc

I was able to clear the assignment for "Misc", but when I tried to assign "Hidden" to "Misc", it (Hidden) disappeared! Even after a restart of Geek.Menu, it remained awol.
I tried showing hidden icons; still no show. I tried assigning one of those hidden icons to it (because I didn't wnat to lose a "good" one), and it did not show up on the list of existing categories. So, I entered "Hidden" as a New category; The icon disappeared, as if reassigned, but "Hidden" remains hidden, or non-existent, and now that other icon is gone, too.
One other oddity: At the top of my menu, left side, was a hard-drive icon which brought me to my Geek Menu drive (G:). I forget if this was a feature of GM, or something I added; probably the latter, because I now see that the "Explore" item at the right performs the same function. Anyway, the oddity is that now this icon seems to be multiplying! First there was one,
and now there are between five and seven (when hidden icons are shown)!
P.S.: You meant right-click, not alt-click, right? (the former gives me the context menu, the latter does nothing for me, on XP Pro)

Hey, Chris, it was indeed an "empty" category… that said, other categories are now acting wierd…
Anyway, I'm heading into another typically hectic week, so I won't have a lot of time to "play" (I know, this is important, but there are so many priorities, so little time…)
I've noted the "Monitor" link, and will post to it, if need be, and as time permits.
Cheers!

I was just wondering, is this project dead or something? Because from what I can see, there has been no update since late 2009
it's been a while, hasn't it. back on for now.
WB, x0pherl! How are you?
I'm still on 1.3.5.2 and loving it, bugs and all! ;)
I see you just posted 1.3.6.0. Yay!
How stable is it? Are there any release notes?
Thanks again for geek.menu, and for keeping it alive!

yes, by alt-click i meant left click (or more properly, secondary mouse-button-click, i guess)
Is the Hidden category empty? If so, the hidden category disappearing is due to a "feature" that removes empty categories from view, if not, can you do me a favor and log that as a comment under the bug:https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3228902&group_id=209346&atid=1009346
