#692 Overhaul the UI (It looks to 2k'ish)

interface (1)

Let me first explain what I mean by overhaul, I am not saying that Geany has a bad design or something. Geany seemingly now lacks in the way interface is being shown to the end user. Consider editors/ide like sublime text, adobe brackets etc. They don't even have 10% of the features that Geany have but still and end-user is now-a-days more inclined towards using it instead of Geany.
I think few polishes here and there need to be done, may be the icons as well, tab styles, search bars, buttons etc. Basically an interface overhaul.

I just want an interface free from distractions. To this end I remove the sidebar and message window, most of the icons and append the icon bar alongside the menu bar.

Geany mostly simply follows the user's theme, on purpose. Even geany-specific icons can be overridden by a theme as easily as any other icon.

More generally, "UI overhaul" is a highly subjective thing. You probably should be more specific on what you find problematic so other could understand what annoys you. Also, as the previous comment suggested, Geany's UI is partially configurable so you can also show or hide features you don't need or don't like (toolbar, sidebar, statusbar, document tabs, ...) which can drastically change the UI appearance.
