#863 Geany 0.21 locks up on Ubuntu 12.04

General (289)

I have a problem which makes Geany completely unusable. Tying any character into a document causes the system to lockup with 100% CPU for about 5-10 seconds. I can use the menus, but typing anything into the document has the same effect.

I'm not sure if this started when I upgraded Ubuntu from 11.10 to 12.04 or if it was because Geany upgraded.

I tried removing the apt package and deleting ~/.config/geany and installing Geany 0.21 from source, but the same thing happened.

I downloaded version 0.20 and installed from source and the problem is not there.

I'm using GTK 2.24.10 and GLib 2.32.1 on Ubuntu 12.04, 3.2.0-24-generic kernel, x86_64

Try setting menu edit->preferences->editor->completions->Symbol list update frequency to 0

If thats the "problem" and you still want real-time symbol update try a bigger number, but at some point it will re-parse your file causing the delay.

In addition to elextr comment, if what he suggests doesn't help, could you please run Geany in a debugger and get a backtrace at the moment Geany is unresponsive consuming the CPU?
