In an update quite a ways back (about a year ago?) Geany began not to allow the window width to be reduced beyond certain length. I have tried numerous changing in the Preferences (mostly in Toolbar > Customize Toolbar) to see if Geany will let me reduce it's width to no avail. If there is a bug report for this please led me to it as I was not able to find one. I don't think this would be a problem for people using a 10pt font or better, however using one below that can extend the width longer than (I think) most people would like.

I wrote about this in a forum posting, here:

http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=93345

that includes a picture of what I am describing. Is there something I can do to try and reduce the width?

    I found the minimum window size is hardcoded:

    [nmt@localhost geany]$ ack MIN src/geany.h
    #define GEANY_WINDOW_MINIMAL_WIDTH 550
    #define GEANY_WINDOW_MINIMAL_HEIGHT 350

    I'm not sure why we need a minimum window size.

    In the meantime you could build Geany from source and make those constants smaller.

    The minimum size has been removed in the SVN version (well, actually it has been reduced to 10x10 pixels, I hope this is small enough...).
