doesn't work at all in 0.7.5/gnome

Ubuntu repo contains 0.7.5 version (from universe).
Gripes:
- can't close about box!
- can't open folder for scanning. It has been possible to 'hack' a way to open my home folder for scanning, but this had to be done by typeing '/' as a filename (!), resulting in scanning my home folder (sic?) regardless of which folder location was opened in the (gnome?) folder picker dialog. All other entries result in (1) no action (empty filename), scanning my home folder (specifying existing name in filename) or 'The folder could not be created: Error creating directory: File exists'
I'm sure there are bugs in the fileopen dialog from gnome. But it can't be this broken.

Oh, and none of the keyboard shortcuts work (Ctrl-Q, Ctrol-O).
I'm on Ubunti Intrepid
