#7 Crash in the Python parts of it

I couldn't quite pin it down, looking at the source code, but this exception
is getting raised and not caught somewhere in the Python code:

I archived some messages in my Gmail account and suddenly the error is
gone :S

I think I know what was causing it: the upgrade page for the Google Chat stuff.
It's still an uncaught exception that should be recovered from rather than crash,
and I'll see if I can do a better job pinpointing it.
