If you are a fan of Qt, you can look at http://sourceforge.net/projects/e-doc/. It is based on LibDigiDoc but uses Qt 4.2. It is designed to be cross-platform and full-featured program for signing/encrypting files. Currently it is in beta (only signing is implemented). Take a look at it from time to time, there'll be updates on a regular basis. There're some C++ wrapper classes around basic Openssl and PKCS#11 functionality, so it might be interesting to developers just to browse the source.
