    Hello all:

Anyone still working on this product?? It's 2008 and not even a new thread since 2007. Last release in 2005???

No one is actively working on GDBI, but it is not dead.  No one else has made any changes for a long time, but the other developers only worked in specific subsystems.  I occasionally add a fix, but I didn’t realize it was already 2 years since the latest patch.

I personally use PGV, and only use GDBI as a PGV client, and I only use it when there is a specific feature I need that PGV does not have.  But PGV keeps getting better.

Since GDBI started 6 years ago, what you can do on a web site has increased dramatically.  No local app will ever become better than PGV except in niche areas.  I dabbled in some areas, but never got things to a formal release state.  These include local caching/updating, gedcom merging, and tree diagrams.

When I began GDBI, I used jLifelines as a starting point.  I hope that some day someone else uses GDBI as a starting point for a better program.
